01 鬼太鼓 Onidaiko
⻤太⿎は佐渡に約120団体あります。全て違います。⻤の⾯も太⿎のリズムも⾐装も全部違います。この写真の⻤太⿎は⻤と獅⼦と太⿎を使った⻤太⿎です。
⻤は地域の災いをバチに吸い取り、太⿎にそれを納めます。太⿎は神社の意味もあり、獅⼦は神社を守る役として登場し、⻤にと共に災いを太⿎に収めます。
There are about 120 Onidaiko groups in Sado, and each of them have differing styles. The oni masks, traditional Japanese taiko drums, costumes, as well as drumming rhythms all differ depending on the region. In our style of onidaiko, This picture Onidaiko have an oni (a demon who is actually a deity), a shishimai (a mythical lion), and taiko (traditional Japanese drum).
The oni uses bachi (a drum stick) to draw evil spirits out from the environment and transfer them into the taiko. The taiko can also be interpreted as a “shrine,” and the shishimai, as protector of the shrine, works together to send the evil spirits into the taiko along with the oni.
02 春駒 Harigoma
春駒は、その年の豊作や⼤漁などを願い正⽉などに家々をまわる芸能です。かつては全国各地で⾏われていましたが、現在は、佐渡を含めわずか数ヶ所で継承されているだけとなりました。
春駒には男春駒と⼥春駒があります。正⽉の⾨付け芸らしく賑やかに舞う。時にはアドリブも交えるその⼝上にも注⽬してください。
Harigoma (spring foal dance) is a folk entertainment performed at New Years and other celebratory events to pray for a good harvest and a good catch of fish. In the past, you could see Harigoma performances all over Japan. Nowadays, only a few regions around the country continue the tradition, Sado being one of them.
There are two styles of Harigoma: otoko (menʼs) harigoma and onna (womenʼs) harigoma. Both involve very lively dance, similar to other kadozuke, or traditional Japanese door-to-door New Yearʼs performances. Pay attention to the way the performer talks – youʼll notice sometimes they stray from the script and improvise.
03 のろま人形 NOROMA Puppet Shows
佐渡島には3つの⼈形芝居があります。説教(セッキョウ)⼈形、⽂弥(ブンヤ)⼈形、そして今⽇観ていただく、のろま⼈形です。
のろま⼈形は、古い佐渡弁を使い、昔の出来事や⼈情も交えながら笑いを誘う⼤衆向けの⼈形芝居です。最後にびっくりすることがおきますので楽しみにしてください。
There are three different types of traditional puppet shows performed on Sado: Sekkyou puppets Bunya puppets, and Noroma puppets, which weʼll take a look at today.
Performed using old Sado dialect, Noroma are puppet shows for the masses. While telling stories of the past and of human nature, Noroma performers aim to make the audience laugh.There will be something surprising at the end of the performance, so enjoy!
04 佐渡おけさ Sado Okesa
佐渡おけさは佐渡を代表する民謡です。元々は相川の佐渡金山の鉱石を選り分ける時に唄われた選鉱唄ですが、夏祭りの鉱山祭で編み笠をかぶって町を踊り流す際に使われるようになりました。
踊り方は16足（じゅうろくあし）と言い、手を叩いたり、同じ側の手足を動かしたりします。哀愁を帯びた唄と洗練された優雅な踊りをぜひご体験ください。
Sado Okesa is a representative folk song of Sado Island. Originally sung during the sorting of ores at the Sado Kinzan (Sado Gold Mine) in Aikawa, it started as a sorting song. However, it became associated with the summer festival's 'Mining Festival,' where participants wear woven hats and dance through the town.
The dance consists of 16 steps (juuroku-ashi), involving clapping hands and coordinated movements of the limbs on the same side. Experience the melancholic melody and refined, graceful dance of Sado Okesa for yourself.
